"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
- Proverbs 17:22

3 months ago, my grandfather gave me the chance to spend time with my family. His passing was his way of reminding me not to get lost in my new life - to always remember that family comes first. When I abruptly had to help move my sister out of college, I realized that my halabuji wanted me to see how she was on a new chapter of her life as well.

I can't believe my sister has already moved back to school. HH, as you continue your new college life, I hope that you can feel the love and support from halabuji that he gave to me throughout college.

My grandfather was strong-willed. When he knew he could do something to overcome obstacles, he chose to do it.
a great philosophy.

He was also the Grand King of excuses, finding ways to take my side. He helped me justify why I wanted to be a journalist, then go into marketing, maybe dabble in law, and ultimately land a job in fashion.
only he could make that train of thought sound remotely logical.

Even from across the world, he loved me and my sister. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War who taught us to focus on loving moments and not to linger on disappointments. "Smiling gives you energy," he said. He showed us that it is possible to be an optimistic yet rational person.

Loss of a loved one is never easy, but when you learn to embrace the beautiful and eternal life that God has planned for us, you'll be able to find peace of mind and your heart will smile.
hey, i finally reached a point where i could write about it, right? :)

Be strong! 힘내!

love, MH<3
